Alex Smith was born in London, England in 1972. At the age of six months he had a role in the feature film ‘A Private Enterprise’. Graduating with a degree in Art at Central Saint Martin’s in 1994, he went straight into film-making. At 19, Alex won a competition on MTV, making an ident that they then used. Alex has made a short film with an award from Film London. Very recently Alex made a documentary for Live Earth, about climate change in Australia, which was aired at Live Earth 7.7.07. Alex has directed commercials for products such as KSwiss Shoes, Bonds Underwear, Suzuki Motorbikes and has worked with some of the most prolific music artists and bands of our time such as: Coldplay Alex has won further awards for: Coldplay, The Darkness, Nominated for Best New Director at the CADS, along with other nominations at the CADS. Won Best Direction of a New Artist at the MVPAs, nominated for Best New Director at the MVPAs. Nominated for Best Rock video at the MTV awards for The Darkness. Won best Music Video for the Darkness at the Metal Hammer awards. Won two PLUG awards for best video, plus many more.
